I am the eldest of four siblings, always the one who looks out for others, who protects and cares. My roots are mixed: my grandmother liked to say that I was a young lady from a good, noble Lwów family; my grandfather — a professor, with a home library full of Proust and Dostoyevsky — opened up the worlds of literature and scholarship to me. When I was seven, I had a sledging accident. I spent a year in bed, during which I read The Chronicles of Narnia and many other books. Perhaps that’s why I later wrote several books of my own and translated a Banksy book for the Polish market. When I spent my holidays in our family home in the countryside, my other grandmother taught me warmth and kindness baked into blueberry croissants, while my grandfather — a beekeeper and farmer — passed on a love of the land and of hard work. After university, I moved to Belfast to gather material for my PhD. I worked in the community centre on the peace line and… played a concert in the very hall where the Titanic was built. I am fascinated by intercultural dialogue — especially when it unfolds in situations of conflict. That is why, after Russia’s attack on Kyiv, I became involved in cooperation with organisations such as Médecins du Monde, UNHCR, UNICEF, DRC and Save the Children.
I thrive in crisis situations, on the edge — which is why I support organisations and families in difficult times through consultations and training.
Cities and people intrigue me. I collect data — I don’t run surveys; I ask, I listen, I observe. I have carried out numerous social diagnoses and gathered material that later became the basis for the Netflix series High Water.
When my daughters were small and someone asked, “Where does your mum work?”, they would reply:
“ Mum doesn’t work — she reads, talks and thinks.”
I will analyse reports and social media, conduct in-depth interviews and focus groups. Then I’ll go for a walk with my dogs (Basia the Corgi and Charlie the Cavalier), think things through, juggle ideas in my head, come back and tell you what I see. Together, we’ll look for the solutions that are right for you. I’m known for delivering when someone else has dropped the ball, when deadlines are tight — and Mission Impossible is honestly my favourite kind of task.
I create brands, concepts and strategies. I invent ways out of crisis — or out of boredom. I consult and train. I implement projects. I support — a bit like an older sister would. I work with a wonderful team of expert women who combine knowledge, experience and professionalism with joy, curiosity about people and a strong sense of purpose.
